Low Carbon Buildings
All too often we see buildings that are specified for high thermal performance and the inclusion of low energy technologies at design stage, but the subsequent engineering and building services are installed and commissioned without a thorough knowledege of what each system should achieve. Our technical services ensure that not only is best practice applied at design stage, but also that full functionality is in place to avoid any conflict/confusion between each system and the user.
We regularly see cases of biomass boilers with significantly lower performance than conventional boilers, due to poor control of the boiler and heat distribution system. We undertake a great deal of remediation work on such systems to improve efficiency and operability; the measures needed can range from minor changes to boiler settings to full system and integration re-design.
We are currently working hard with the building services industry to ensure best practice is not only implemented at the technology selection stage but also at the critical stages of integration design and commissioning.
